Hempstead, NY – (EC Media Strategies)  – Hempstead community-based newspaper, The Hempstead/Uniondale Times, along with Phil Andrews, Master Networker host of the  Power Networking Business Seminar Series,  hosted a business 2 business networking event at Nakisaki Restaurant & Bar located at 275 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.

The Power Networking Business Series has been named by NY Enterprise Report Magazine as one of the top Business Networking events in the NYC Metropolitian area.

 

Dubbed Networking Tuesdays in the HUB, the event is a buffet-style gathering intended to bring the Small Business Owners, Professionals, and Community & Civic Leaders together to share information.

About: Co-Host Phil Andrews

Phil Andrews has served as Vice President and Marketing Director of the Haircut Hut franchise for over a decade. Mr. Andrews is listed in Who's Who in Black America and International Who's Who. He is also featured in a book published by, Mr. Robert H. Adams entitled, 15 years of Minority Business Development. Currently, he is the Public Relations Director for Cbbooksdistribution.com, Awarenessmagazine.net, SGIB Magazine.com, Hempstead Horn Newspaper, African Atlantic Genealogical Association, and 100 Black Men of Long Island.

 

Mr. Andrews is a current member of the Caribbean- American Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc., Former Chairman of Public Relations for The United Black Men of Queens, Inc., and member of the New York Association of Black Journalist, National Black Public Relations Society of New York, and Urban League of Long Island Young Professionals. Mr. Andrews is the current President of 100 Black Men of Long Island, Inc.

In October of 1995, Mr. Andrews was presented the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce/Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award.

In 1998, he was presented with the Nassau Council of Chambers/West Indian Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year Award.

He has also received a citation from the 18th Assembly District of Long Island New York, Assemblywomen Earlene Hooper Hill. In 2005 Mr. Andrews received a Proclamation for Outstanding Service to New York's 10th Congressional District presented by Congressman Ed Towns. Mr. Andrews has received Proclamations from former Nassau County Executive Thomas S. Gullotta, and former Town of Hempstead Supervisor Mr. Richard Guardino.

 

In 2005 & 2006 Mr. Andrews was inducted into the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. as a Member Visionary.

 

About: Co-host Elseah Cheah

 Mr. Elseah W. Chea, publisher of the Hempstead-Uniondale Times, earned his bachelor’s degree from The City College of New York and his master’s degree from Teachers College Columbia University.  Mr. Chea attended and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx.

Mr. Chea has been practicing journalism for over 20 years. He got his start when he interviewed the late civil rights advocate, Stokely Carmichael (a.k.a. Kwame Toure), in 1981. The interview was subsequently published in BMCC Voice (a Borough of Manhattan Community Student newspaper). Since then, Mr. Chea has edited/published an array of publications, namely-- Intertwine and The New York Profile magazines, and The Pan-African Herald, US/Liberian Voice and The Hempstead Horn newspapers.

Mr. Chea currently teaches English composition at Molloy College in Rockville Centre and Briarcliff College in Bethpage.  He has also taught at the College of New Rochelle, Hostos Community College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, State University of New York/Old Westbury, and York College; he is a former teacher with the New York City Board of Education, where he taught language arts.
